3 Genuinely Great Things to Do in Bali (That Most Visitors Overlook)

Let’s be honest. Planning what to actually do in Bali can feel a little overwhelming.

Between the temples, the beach clubs, the surf lessons, the rice terraces, the spa days, and every travel blog telling you a different “must-do,” it is easy to spend more time researching your trip than actually enjoying it.

So here is a different approach. Instead of a list of 47 things you probably will not get to, this post covers three specific activities that are easy to access, genuinely fun, and suitable for almost every kind of traveler.  Whether you are here to unwind, get moving, or simply have a brilliant evening out.

And if you happen to be staying at Sun Island Bali? A couple of these come with some pretty nice perks already built into your room rate.

Let’s get into it.

1. Poolside Yoga in Seminyak — The Slow Start Your Bali Trip Deserves

Best for: Solo travelers, couples, wellness seekers, and anyone who needs to officially switch off from real life.

There is a particular kind of magic that happens when you roll out a yoga mat outdoors in Bali. The air is warm, the light is soft, and for about an hour, nothing else exists. If that sounds appealing, put this one on your list.

Every Tuesday at 5:00 PM, Sun Island Boutique Villas & Spa in Seminyak hosts an open-air poolside yoga session that is, genuinely, without any exaggeration, one of the most calming things to do in Bali. The class runs poolside as the late afternoon sky shifts into golden hour, and it is led by an experienced instructor who knows how to read a room and pace a class for the people actually in it that evening.

There are no performance expectations here. The class is open to all levels, which means it does not matter if you have never set foot on a yoga mat before or if you practice every day at home. You will feel welcome either way.

What makes this one worth it: The setting. Practicing yoga indoors is fine. Practicing yoga by a pool in Bali as the sun starts to drop? That is a different experience entirely.

Practical details:

  • Every Tuesday, 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Poolside, Sun Island Boutique Villas & Spa, Seminyak
  • All levels welcome. Mats, blocks, and straps provided.
  • Complimentary for Sun Island Boutique Villas & Spa guests. Outside visitors are welcome at IDR 200,000 per person.
  • Reserve by Monday evening before 7:00 PM — spots are limited.

Staying at Sun Island? Swing by the Front Desk or speak to the Concierge to book your spot.

2. Padel in Kuta — The Activity You Did Not Know You Needed

Best for: Couples, groups of friends, families with older kids, and anyone who wants to do something a bit different.

Here is one of those things to do in Bali that tends to produce the same reaction from almost everyone who tries it: “I had no idea how much fun that would be.”

Padel is a racquet sport. Think tennis and squash had a very social, extremely fun baby. It has been quietly taking over the world for the last few years. If you have not played before, the good news is that it is one of the most beginner-friendly sports out there. Most people are rallying within their first ten minutes on court. If you have played before, you already know exactly why this is on the list.

Through Sun Island Hotel & Spa Kuta’s partnership with Kuta Padel Sport, guests get access to exclusive court rates just a short ride from the hotel. It is genuinely one of the most entertaining ways to spend an afternoon in Kuta, especially if your group has been doing a lot of sitting by pools and eating good food (no judgment, same).

A one-hour session is a perfect amount of time for beginners. Two hours if your group gets competitive. Either way, you will be talking about it at dinner.

What makes this one worth it: It is social in a way that most activities simply are not. Four people on a court, fast rallies, close scoring, it creates a shared experience that a spa day or a sunset cruise does not quite replicate.

Details:

  •  Kuta Padel Sport, Kuta a 2 minute walk from Sun Island Hotel & Spa Kuta
  •  Wear comfortable sports clothes and proper sports shoes with grip
  • Rackets available to rent at the venue, no need to pack anything
  • Guest rate: IDR 280,000 per hour per court
  •  Arrange through the Sun Island Front Desk or Concierge –  they handle the booking for you

Not staying at Sun Island Hotel & Spa Kuta? You can still book directly through Kuta Padel Sport.

3. Atlas Beach Club Bali — The Bali Evening You Came Here For

Best for: Everyone. Genuinely, everyone.

Some experiences are hard to put into words, and Atlas Beach Club Bali is one of them. But we will try.

Imagine: open-air terraces that step down toward the ocean. The kind of DJ sets that make it impossible to sit still. A food and drinks menu that is actually good, not just “beach club good,” but good. Crowds that feel energetic without being overwhelming. And a sunset that will make you reach for your phone whether you planned to or not.

Atlas Beach Club is widely considered one of the most iconic destinations in Bali, and after one visit, you will understand why it keeps appearing on every “best of Bali” list.

Now here is where staying at Sun Island Bali makes this even better.

Your physical room key is your ticket in. It’s FOR FREE.

Sun Island Bali guests enjoy complimentary entry to both Atlas Beach Club and Atlas Super Club (the full nightlife venue attached to the main club) simply by presenting their room key at the entrance. No cover charge. No minimum spend just to walk through the door. Plus, you get a 10% discount on all food and beverages, or applied toward any minimum consumption requirement, for the duration of your visit.

It is one of those perks that sounds almost too good to be straightforward. It really is that straightforward.

What makes this one worth it: The combination of the setting, the atmosphere, and the fact that you are walking in with benefits already in your pocket makes this feel like a completely different night out.

Details:

  • Jl. Petitenget No.88x, Seminyak – approx. 10–15 mins by taxi or ride-app
  • Atlas Beach Club opens from approximately 10:00 AM. Atlas Super Club kicks off in the evening.
  • Smart-casual for daytime. Smarter attire recommended for Atlas Super Club at night.
  • Free entry for all Sun Island Bali guests — just show your physical room key
  • 10% off food and beverages included with your stay
  • Questions before you go? Ask the Concierge — they know this place well.

Before You Go: Quick Tips for Making the Most of It

A few practical notes that will save you from figuring things out the hard way:

On the yoga session:
Book your spot by Monday evening. The class fills up, especially during peak season. Wear light, stretchy clothing. If you are visiting from outside the hotel, arrive five minutes early so the instructor can welcome you properly.

On padel:
You do not need to bring anything except sports shoes with good grip. Flip-flops will not cut it on a padel court. If your group is four people, you can book one court and play doubles straight away, ideal for first-timers.

On Atlas Beach Club:
Go for sunset. Arrive around 5:00–5:30 PM to get a good spot before the evening crowd builds. Do not forget your physical room key. A photo of it will not work for the entry perk. And if you want to move on to Atlas Super Club later in the evening, your room key gets you in there too.

General tip for your Bali itinerary:
If you are trying to fit all three of these into one trip, a good rhythm is: yoga on Tuesday evening, padel on a quieter afternoon earlier in the week, and Atlas Beach Club for one of your last evenings, it makes for a genuinely memorable send-off to your trip.

Ready to Add These to Your Bali Itinerary?

Here is the honest version of this recommendation: Bali has no shortage of things to do. But the activities that tend to stay with you are the ones that felt effortless to get to, fun from the moment you arrived, and easy to talk about afterward.

Poolside yoga, padel in Kuta, and a free-entry evening at Atlas Beach Club Bali check all three boxes. And if you are staying at Sun Island Bali, most of the logistics are already sorted before you even ask.

If that sounds like the kind of trip you are after, we would love to have you.
